      Biosketch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Dr. J Sook Chung<\/strong> received her Ph.D. in Entomology in 1991 from Texas A&M University.  She has studied the mechanisms by which the endocrine system regulates growth, development and reproduction in decapod crustaceans using molecular biological approaches.  Her work has given definition to the crustacean CHH\/VIH\/MIH family of hormones.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Dr. Chung’s work on endocrine triggers for shedding in the soft shell industry has implications for the management and bioeconomics of blue crab fisheries in the Chesapeake Bay.  Recently, she has initiated a study of the effects of the Gulf Oil spill on reproduction of grass shrimp and blue crab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
