Our theme this year is Faculty Wellness <\/strong>— a topic that has been much discussed, researched, documented, debated, and fretted over in the pages of our industry’s publications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest round of higher ed surveys has made a significant impact on these conversations (see: “Professors are leaving academe during the Great Resignation,”<\/a> “Students Seek Stronger Connections with Professors but Rarely Take the Lead,”<\/a> and “Provosts Stand Firm in Annual Survey”<\/a> all posted on Inside Higher Ed<\/em> within the last three months).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ITLC <\/em>sees this as a three-pronged issue: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Recognizing and defining terms like “burnout” and “exhaustion”<\/li>
  2. Identifying techniques for managing and reversing burnout on the individual level<\/li>
  3. Collaborating with institutions to reduce the systemic triggers and exacerbators of burnout<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Following her keynote, we’ve asked a number of faculty colleagues from different disciplines to weigh in on the issue in our ITLC<\/em> roundtable.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
