{"id":2030,"date":"2022-08-29T14:53:21","date_gmt":"2022-08-29T18:53:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/hr\/?p=2030"},"modified":"2025-04-23T10:17:33","modified_gmt":"2025-04-23T14:17:33","slug":"student-testing-center-exam-proctor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/hr\/student-testing-center-exam-proctor\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Testing Center Exam Proctor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fall 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS), located in the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE), seeks graduate students who have an interest in working with students with disabilities as exam proctors for the SAS Testing Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">About the role: As an exam proctor you will support a student\u2019s learning by monitoring the testing environment. Students may have testing accommodations for a number of different reasons, in which they need extended time and\/or a distraction-reduced environment to test in.<br>Maintaining a distraction-reduced testing environment is essential for student focusing and processing purposes, therefore the role of the exam proctor provides crucial support.<br>At times, students may also have other testing accommodations which could include assistance with writing and\/or reading an exam. Students may need additional support in these areas for a number of different reasons, for example a temporary or long-term physical injury or condition, a visual impairment or a learning difference. The exam proctor may be asked to provide this support when appropriate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><mark>Responsibilities: <\/mark>To monitor the SAS Testing Center as an exam proctor by ensuring students with testing accommodations are provided all necessary materials and a distraction-reduced testing environment.<br>\uf0b7 To work in a professional, helpful and distraction-reduced manner while ensuring that student confidentiality is maintained at all times.<br>\uf0b7 To complete and return all relevant paperwork accurately and promptly.<br>\uf0b7 To engage in training relevant to the role and occasional supervision\/team meetings where relevant.<br>\uf0b7 To provide adequate notice if you are unable to proctor on a scheduled day and ensure notification of any changes to your availability for work or contact details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><mark>Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance \u2013 Fall 2022<\/mark><br>\uf0b7 To prepare the SAS Testing Center for daily use by reviewing the pre-populated Exam Log that identifies students testing and details, ensuring all computers are on and<br>working, and ensuring that all testing supplies are sanitized and readily available for use.<br>\uf0b7 To instruct students to place all personal items (bags, cell phones, computers, smart watches, tablets, headphones, earbuds, coats, drinks, food) in the testing center personal lockers and disseminate all testing materials and\/or supplies.<br>\uf0b7 To monitor all students in the testing center; including routine walkthroughs to ensure students are not engaging in academic dishonesty or using more than their allotted time.<br>\uf0b7 To report any direct observations or general concerns of academic integrity or disrespectful\/disruptive behavior to OIE\/SAS staff members immediately.<br>\uf0b7 To ensure any questions or concerns that you cannot answer are brought to OIE\/SAS staff members as soon as possible.\u00a0<br>\uf0b7 To prepare the testing center for closure by returning the exam log to OIE\/SAS staff members, ensuring all computers are signed out and no personal belongings were left<br>behind, sanitizing all testing areas and materials\/supplies, and storing items in their designated place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><mark>Requirements:&nbsp;<\/mark> The essential functions for the position:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strong communication, reading and writing skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Well organized, punctual and reliable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ability to review, follow and provide clear instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ability to work efficiently with Google Docs, Google Meets, Microsoft Word, Excel,<br>and\/or learn specialized software.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a positive attitude towards equality and access for people with disabilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ability to communicate sensitively and tactfully, both orally and in writing, with<br>individuals at all levels within the University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The student will be expected to remain in good academic standing within their program<br>and have a GPA of 2.8 or above.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark>Hours:&nbsp;<\/mark> Up to twenty (20) per week (depending on schedule)<br>Salary:&nbsp; $15<br><mark>Application Deadline<\/mark>&nbsp;\u2013 Friday, September 30, 2022 or until filled.<br><mark>Application Process:<\/mark>&nbsp;Interested students MUST complete mandatory training with the Office of<br>Student Accessibility Services if selected for employment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><mark>Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance \u2013 Fall 2022<\/mark><br>Interested students must complete an application in the Department of Human Resources located<br>in Bird Hall, Room 1104.&nbsp;To complete an application, follow the steps below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><mark>Please visit www.umes.edu\/hr<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select Talent Acquisition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select Student Employment<br>3.&nbsp;Select Student Job Board<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select Workship Application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Email the application to mvames@umes.edu<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fall 2022 The Office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS), located in the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE), seeks graduate students who have an interest in working with students with disabilities as exam proctors for the SAS Testing Center.
