What is the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n

The Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC) offers undergraduate students interested in trivia and knowledge of a wide range of subjects the opportunity to engage in friendly “quiz bowl” competitions with fellow University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) students and other Historically Black Colleges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any registered full-time, first-time undergraduate student can compete for a spot on the varsity team. Four students are chosen to represent UMES at regional qualifying tournaments, which lead to the HCASC National Championship Tournament (NCT), held every spring in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participation in the NCT allows students to earn grants for the university, with the champion receiving $100,000. Students also participate in community service projects, team-building activities, and cultural excursions to museums and places of interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How can I try out for the team?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Any student who wishes to be considered for the team should take a Power Search Quiz<\/a> or participate in the fall campus tournament scheduled for early September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How is the game played?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The game is divided into four rounds: three individual face-off rounds played with a buzzer and a final Ultimate Challenge \u2018lightning\u2019 round. Three players play in each game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When is the National Championship Tournament?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The annual National Championship Tournament takes place in Torrance, California, in the Spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What topics are covered?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Several major categories cover thousands of topics. Categories include business, current events, fine arts, general knowledge, geography, history, literature, multi-disciplinary subjects, pop culture, religion, science, social science, sports, and African-American content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
