Special Collections and University Archives<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The Frederick Douglas Library Special Collections Department and University Archives preserves the history of UMES, from the official papers of the President to yearbooks dating back to 1959. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special Collections is currently in the process of upgrading our Archival system to ensure all archival materials are readily accessible digitally.  If you would like to learn more about our processed collections and how to view them, please view the Special Collections<\/a> page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photographs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Frederick Douglass Library is in the process of digitizing all photographs from archival collections. These photographs will be available on the library’s website and catalog.  If you are interested in viewing a photo in person, or before they are digitized, please view the Special Collections<\/a> page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Theses and Dissertations<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The Frederick Douglas Library is in the process of digitizing all theses and dissertations written by graduates of UMES currently being preserved physically in the library.  If you are interested in accessing a theses or dissertation written pre-2026 please refer to our catalog and request the materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All theses and dissertations 2026 and onward will be uploaded automatically to SOAR@UMES, an open access digital repository.   This allows all research created by UMES students to be available to the public worldwide for free, ensuring lasting digital access, increasing visibility, and establishing your publishing career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If any student wishes to have their work excluded from SOAR@UMES please contact mdsoar@umes.edu<\/a> with your full name, the title of your work, and the year of publication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
