{"id":1343,"date":"2022-02-17T16:25:33","date_gmt":"2022-02-17T20:25:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/engineering\/?page_id=1343"},"modified":"2024-11-13T09:43:53","modified_gmt":"2024-11-13T14:43:53","slug":"objectives-abet-outcomes","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/engineering\/objectives-abet-outcomes\/","title":{"rendered":"Objectives &#038; ABET Outcomes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\" class=\"underline\">Program Educational Objectives:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UMES Engineering program produces graduates who are expected to achieve the following objectives within a few years after graduation:<br><br>Objective 1: Work as a technically competent engineer at the professional level in&nbsp;industry, government agencies or pursue graduate studies.   <br>Objective 2: Effectively work on industry or government engineering project teams.<br>Objective 3: Be engaged as an effective member of the engineering profession as it relates to and interacts with the global society.<br>Objective 4: Actively take steps to remain current with advancing engineering tools and technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\" class=\"underline\">Students Learning Outcomes:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The graduates of the UMES Engineering program will have the following Learning Outcomes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Program Educational Objectives: UMES Engineering program produces graduates who are expected to achieve the following objectives within a few years after graduation: Objective 1: Work as a technically competent engineer at the professional level in&nbsp;industry, government agencies or pursue graduate studies.
