container.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var(--color-bg-contrast);\">Do no recap, bend, remove, or clip needles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var(--color-bg-contrast);\">Fill 3\/4 full, snap the lid close and secure with tape.\u00a0\u00a0Do Not Overfill.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var(--color-bg-contrast);\">Complete and submit a Hazardous &amp; Regulated Waste Removal Request Form to EHS.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Non-sharp Solid Waste for Autoclave<\/td>\n<td>\n<ol>\n<li>Collect in\u00a0autoclavable\u00a0bags without the word &#8220;biohazardous&#8221; or the universal symbol for\u00a0biohazardous\u00a0material; clear or white bags are preferable.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var(--color-bg-contrast); background-color: var(--color-bg);\">Place filled bags into an autoclave PL pan for transport from the laboratory to the autoclave.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var(--color-bg-contrast); background-color: var(--color-bg);\">Add the appropriate amount of water to the bag and close loosely to allow steam to escape.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var(--color-bg-contrast); background-color: var(--color-bg);\">Autoclave the pan and bag at 121 degrees Celsius for one hour.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var(--color-bg-contrast); background-color: var(--color-bg);\">Allow the pan and autoclaved material to cool; put the autoclaved material in the building dumpster.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var(--color-bg-contrast); background-color: var(--color-bg);\">Do not autoclave chemical or radioactive wastes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Contaminated Glass and Pasteur\u00a0Pipets<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>Treat by one of the following two methods:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Decontaminate the glass by autoclaving, or soaking in 10% bleach for 30 minutes, then place in a sturdy cardboard box, tape closed, and dispose of in the building dumpster; or,<\/li>\n<li>Contaminated glass may be discarded into a sharps container and handled according to the instructions for &#8220;Sharps.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Liquid Waste<\/td>\n<td>\n<ol>\n<li>Add household bleach to a final concentration of 10%, wait 30 minutes, then rinse down the sink with copious amounts of water.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var(--color-bg-contrast); background-color: var(--color-bg);\">Alternatively, a disinfectant that is known to be effective against the organism may be added to an appropriate concentration, wait 30 minutes, then rinse down the sink with copious amounts of water.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Animal Carcasses<\/td>\n<td>\n<ol>\n<li>Place animal carcasses\/tissues into a plastic bag.\u00a0\u00a0Doublebag\u00a0all carcasses when\u00a0zoonotic\u00a0agents are present.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var(--color-bg-contrast);\">Place bag in freezer until removal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-weight: inherit;
