Department of Education<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\" class=\"underline\">Annually Fall&nbsp;\u2013 Spring<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Graduate assistant positions through the&nbsp;Department of Education&nbsp;are either full-time (20 hours per week) or part-time (10 hours per week).&nbsp; Each comes with a stipend and tuition benefits.&nbsp; The full time positions provide tuition for 10 credits per semester including benefits and the part-time positions provide tuition for 5 credits per semester.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\" class=\"underline\">What are the responsibilities of a graduate assistant?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Graduate assistants do a variety of activities.&nbsp; These include:&nbsp; assisting faculty in class preparation and research (e.g., proctoring exams, duplicating materials, assisting with technology, conducting database searches); collecting and analyzing data from assessments; assisting the administrative assistants in clerical tasks; monitoring the computer lab; managing and updating the departmental website.&nbsp; This year we anticipate one full-time position that will be solely working with a course redesign project for the introductory undergraduate course in Psychology (PSYC 200).&nbsp; Applicants should specify if they are interested in the psychology graduate assistant position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\" class=\"underline\">What skills do I need?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Graduate assistants in the Department of Education represent aspiring professionals.&nbsp; We expect them to have a high level of professionalism (e.g., dependability, punctuality, professional dress and demeanor, strong oral and written communication skills); respect and experience in working with diverse individuals; willingness to help other students; clerical and technology skills (e.g., filing, word processing; use of database, web design, interactive whiteboards); spirit of cooperation and teamwork; confidentiality; and initiative.&nbsp; In addition, completion of a psychology course, such as introduction to psychology, and teaching skills are preferred for the redesign project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\" class=\"underline\">Who can apply?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regularly admitted graduate students in the majors that are housed in the Department of Education (i.e., provisional status is not considered regular status).&nbsp;
