University of Maryland Eastern Shore Scholarships:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Available for legal residents of Maryland who have obtained regular admission and enrolled as a full-time graduate student in a master\u2019s or doctoral degree program at UMES.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For first-time, full-time matriculated students, a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better on the undergraduate or graduate transcripts. For continuing full-time and part-time students, a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better for the prior or last semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hazel scholars are chosen from undergraduate and graduate students in education who meet established academic criteria. The annual, full tuition scholarships will be awarded with a priority to students from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and Sussex County, Delaware. Fifty fellowships of approximately $20,000 are awarded yearly with funds provided by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The IDRF program is committed to scholarship that advances knowledge about non-U.S. cultures and societies grounded in empirical and site-specific research (involving fieldwork, research in archival or manuscript collections, or quantitative data collection). Several countries also offer English Teaching Assistant positions. Most grantees plan their own programs. Projects may include university coursework, independent library or field research, classes in a music conservatory or art school, special projects in the social or life sciences, or a combination. Recent projects have involved cancer research in the UK, free market development in Mauritius, women’s rights in Chile and contemporary artistic expression in India. Must agree to work as a full-time classroom teacher in a Maryland public school in the critical shortage area you have chosen, one year for each year of the award, or repay the scholarship with interest. Service must begin within 12 months of graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Delegate Scholarship & Senatorial Scholarship<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Available for full time degree-seeking graduate students who reside in the state of Maryland.
