{"id":1213,"date":"2021-06-22T11:23:54","date_gmt":"2021-06-22T15:23:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/deptsitetemplate\/?page_id=1213"},"modified":"2021-07-29T23:24:48","modified_gmt":"2021-07-30T03:24:48","slug":"department-site-template-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wwwcp.umes.edu\/budget\/","title":{"rendered":"UMES Budget Office Mission"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The University Budget Office provides support and analysis to University leadership in fiscal and budgetary policy development to promote the accomplishment of the University&#8217;s mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Budget Office will provide support and guidance to all campus departments at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.umes.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Maryland Eastern Shore<\/a>\u00a0in administering, monitoring and reporting their budgets as directed by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mhec.state.md.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC)<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dbm.state.md.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Budget and Management (DBM)<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usmd.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University System of Maryland (USM)<\/a>, and all applicable laws and regulations so as to ensure a balanced budget at the end of each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will support the University&#8217;s priorities by identifying, projecting, allocating and managing available resources for operating and capital expenditures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Departmental Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>We will<\/strong>&nbsp;assist University faculty, staff and students with the establishment, maintenance and oversight of budgets.<\/li><li><strong>We will<\/strong>&nbsp;collaborate with Human Resources and other departments to improve upon the maintenance of position control.<\/li><li><strong>We will<\/strong>&nbsp;provide assistance in budgeting and accounting for capital projects.<\/li><li><strong>We will<\/strong>&nbsp;promote a high degree of transparency regarding the institution&#8217;s allocation of financial resources.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">More Information:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"http:\/\/stg15.umes.edu\/admin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Administration and Finance<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/stg15.umes.edu\/procurement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purchasing Card<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/stg15.umes.edu\/procurement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purchasing Office<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dbm.maryland.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maryland Department of Budget &amp; Management<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.umes.edu\/universitypolicies\/\">UMES Policies and Procedures<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University Budget Office provides support and analysis to University leadership in fiscal and budgetary policy development to promote the accomplishment of the University&#8217;s mission.
