ARD Research Symposium 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Symposium Theme:
\u201cInnovations in Food, Health & Agriculture: Technological Advancements, Ecological Resilience, & Economic Sustainability\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four prestigious awards will be presented at the 2026 Research Symposium. The first award is the Morrison-Evans Outstanding Scientist Award<\/strong>, given to an outstanding 1890 scientist. Each Research Director should select only one candidate for nomination. Information about your nominee must be presented strictly according to the guidelines. This will ensure equal treatment of all candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second award is the B. D. Mayberry Young Scientist Award<\/strong>, given to an outstanding young scientist. Each Research Director should select only one candidate for nomination. Information about your nominee must be presented strictly according to the guidelines. This will ensure equal treatment of all candidates.

The third award is the McKinley Mayes Mentoring Award<\/strong>, given to a member of the Association of 1890 Research Directors or a research scientist who, as a mentor, has shown an outstanding commitment to mentoring early career faculty or students at one of the 19 1890 land grant universities. Each Research Director should select only one candidate for nomination. Information about your nominee must be presented strictly according to the guidelines. This will ensure equal treatment of all candidates.

The fourth award is the Walter A. Hill Distinguished Service Award<\/strong>, given to an individual that has distinguished himself or herself by exceptionally meritorious service to the 1890 research community.  Each Research Director should select only one candidate for nomination. Information about your nominee must be presented strictly according to the guidelines. This will ensure equal treatment of all candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nominations can only be accepted from Research Directors and will be reviewed by qualified partners of the 1890 system at USDA or 1862 institutions. Nomination packets must be received by Friday, January 16, 2026<\/strong>. Please forward your nomination information for the awards to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
