First Year Students<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-header-secondary-bg-color-background-color has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"\/admissions\/apply-for-admission\/\">apply now<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>You are a Freshman or First Year Student if you are:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>applying for admission during your final year of high school, or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a high school graduate who has never attended college, or.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have earned less than 12 semester transferable college credits after high school graduation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The University of Maryland Eastern Shore seeks to admit students whose academic preparation is strong, who desire to succeed, and who are highly motivated academically, professionally, and personally.&nbsp; Most successful Freshman applicants will have completed a college prep curriculum.&nbsp;&nbsp;Careful consideration is given for course selection and grades earned in addition to SAT\/ACT scores where applicable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Requirements for a complete application:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>an online application via Common App, Black Common App, or the UMES standard application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a nonrefundable application fee of $35.00<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an official copy of high school and\/or college transcripts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an official copy of SAT or ACT score report*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Optional<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applicants with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher do not need to submit SAT or ACT scores for admissions purposes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Letters of recommendation and personal statements are not required;
